CONDITIONS FOR LOANS
- Each Member or Associate may apply for one programme unit a month, that is, one programme for one meeting night.
- The programmes should be selected in order of preference for some months ahead. The Program Librarian will endeavour to ensure that the programmes are available for the nominated date, but often finds it inconvenient when short notice demands are received for a program. Members are requested to cooperate.
- The number of programmes available may create both circulation and demand problems and we wish to keep correspondence to a minimum.
- We are conscious of the imperfections of each program and welcome constructive suggestions. The colour of some slides leaves a lot to be desired because of the faulty exposure of the originals or the duplicate which remains the master copy. Some of the programmes were composed over 30 years ago, making them historical pieces.
- Most of the earlier programmes are of 36 slides, placed in boxes, together with commentary and carefully packaged to ensure safe delivery over a period of time.
- We expect each Society to add to the commentary wherever they see fit – also encourage a discussion by members of your Society, for this is a fundamental object of each programme.
- An enormous amount of time has been expended in composing and preparing each of these programmes for circulation and the Program Director or Librarian will appreciate assistance in the form of good slides of species, interesting hybrids, specimen plants and any other item of interest appertaining to the culture of orchids. Perhaps your society will accept the challenge and produce a program for circulation.
- The safety and protection of each slide and the unit as a whole cannot be over-emphasised.
- The top corner of each slide is clearly marked to ensure that the slides will go into the magazine in the correct order and position.
- We expect your full cooperation to dispatch the program immediately after you meeting night, back to base, or on to an instructed address of another society.
- Any slides in these programs found to be faulty should be reported to the Librarian immediately.
- All requisitions for programs should be directed to the Program Librarian.
