The Victorian Orchid Club is Australia’s oldest Orchid Society and was established in 1923. The VOC is a foundation member of the Australian Orchid Council. The meetings have been held in various locations since then in the Camberwell area. Meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of each Month, except for January, in the Camberwell Central Bowling Cub, 14 Bowen Street, Camberwell South, VIC, at 7:45 for 8:00pm. Members bring an amazing variety of orchids to make a display each month and these plants orchids are judged in their various classes. Prizes are awarded at each meeting. Speakers are invited to present on a range of topics at these meetings, including travel experiences involving orchid hunting, overseas shows, orchid culture and future plant breeding trends; providing interest for beginners and expertise for the professional grower. Supper is enjoyed at the end of each meeting.
The committee and members are delighted to be holding the two annual shows in the Bennettswood Bowls’ Club facilities, 179 Station St, Burwood VIC, 3125. The winter show is planned for
21st and 22nd July with the spring show to be held during the weekend of
15th and 16th September. The shows will include a spectacular and fascinating display of plants, a large number of good quality plants for sale, along with tea and coffee and cake to enjoy. The shows will be open between
9.00am and 5.00pm on the Saturday and 9.00- 4.00pm on the Sunday.
